Doors of Daitoku-ji Marije ter Weele

Doors of Daitoku-ji
I was sitting in front of the temple doors waiting for a monk to come out
and ask if it was possible for me to meditate there every day.

In that serene atmosphere I gave in to patience and was submerged by the present moment.
I started to examine the temple doors and saw a world within.

I thought about our modern society wherein people don’t take the time to wander or wonder.
My work represents the critical importance of appreciating the present.
